Overview

In common with other donor countries, Ireland contributes to a number of international organisations with the objective of supporting global efforts to reduce poverty. A strong effort is made to ensure that these contributions serve to enhance Irish Aid's support for Programme Countries. In deciding the focus and level of contributions to these organisations, particular account is taken of their:

  • commitment to poverty reduction;
  • geographic focus;
  • management strength;
  • commitment to incorporating lessons of good practice.
