Better schools in Mozambique

The upgrade of Murere primary school in 2004 brought four new classrooms with a capacity of around 50 pupils each. Before, all schooling took place either outside or in makeshift shelters with porous roofs, no walls and no desks. The upgrade and the increase in teaching staff has meant local children no longer have to travel an extra 20km to complete primary school.
