Decentralisation of Irish Aid

As part of the Government’s decentralisation programme, Irish Aid is relocating to Limerick.

In its November 2004 report to the Minister for Finance, the Government’s Decentralisation Implementation Group - the Flood Committee (previously Flynn Committee) set the first quarter of 2007 as the target date for decentralisation to Limerick. This target date was reiterated in the most recent report of the Flood Committee published in June 2005.

Decentralisation of Irish Aid to Limerick is progressing well. Approximately half of Irish Aid’s staff are now based in temporary office accommodation in Limerick. The remaining members of staff will move to Limerick once the permanent office space is complete. This is likely to be in the first quarter of 2008.

Further information on the decentralisation of Irish Aid to Limerick, including a copy of the Department’s implementation plan is available on: http://www.foreignaffairs.gov.ie
